Admission
Pitt evaluates each prospective veteran student's application holistically, reviewing their past academic career as well as their personal and professional achievements. Pitt may grant credit for work done at another approved institution based on evaluating official transcripts for each admitted student on an individual basis.
The review process also considers the following factors:
- Demonstrated leadership or success in military operations
- Significant leadership experience, such as military service
- Letters of recommendation from commanders or supervisors
- Personal essays detailing goals and achievements
- Grade trends and grade point average
- Number of transfer credits previously completed
- Difficulty of curriculum
- Intended field of study
- Coursework relevant to school and/or major
- Type(s) of institution(s) previously attended

Application Fee Waivers
All undergraduate schools within the University waive the application fee for veterans. Through the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, enter the code "VETR" in the fee waiver box under your name on the online application or attach a note to the printed application with the code on it.
At Pitt, we understand that, through no fault of your own, your VA tuition benefits may be delayed. Pitt will waive the late fees (VA Post 9/11 GI Bill - Chapter 33) accrued if your education benefits do not arrive on time. Please remember, students not eligible for full benefits are responsible for any portion of the tuition and fees not covered by the VA.
