The OVS team is committed to supporting veterans as they consider a return from military service to academics at Pitt. Underscoring this team effort are University of Pittsburgh professionals who provide student resources and support.

Aryanna Hunter

Aryanna Hunter is an Iraq War veteran, joining the U.S. Army just two months after the terror attacks of September 11th. Before joining the OVS team, Aryanna founded a non-profit called American Nutritional Security and worked as a IT project manager. She holds an Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management and two Master’s degrees, one in Project Management and one in Public Administration. Aryanna is currently pursuing her PhD in Community Engagement.
Aryanna serves as the Director of the Office of Veteran Services. She is responsible for advocating for students, developing programming that addresses awareness of Pitt's military-related student population, and building relationships with campus and regional partners. Aryanna has a deep commitment for serving veterans, service members, and their families and help them achieve academic success.

Steven Hernandez

Steve is a veteran, who holds a BS from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a MA from Webster University and a MA from the Naval Postgraduate School. His principle duty is to certify all eligible beneficiaries for VA educational benefits at Pitt.

Brett assists both Outreach and Benefits Coordinators in their responsibilities and certifies eligible beneficiaries for VA educational benefits at Pitt. He holds a BS and a BA from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business.
