Director of Veterans Services
Ann Rairigh has a well-rounded background in higher education including admissions and student financial services. She has experience assisting students through the challenges of military leaves of absences; preparing for pre and post deployments; as well as the transition associated with college enrollment and re-admittance. In addition, she has a thorough understanding of veterans’ needs and the challenges associated with educational benefits. Throughout her higher education experiences she has focused on building relationships which enabled her to serve as a liaison for students connecting them to necessary services. Her organizational and leadership abilities will be a great asset in giving veterans at The University of Pittsburgh an advantage in today’s growing and diverse higher education culture.
Her plan as the Director of Veterans Services is to develop the office across all levels within the University. She also plans to engage in the community creating awareness and support to help veterans, and their spouses and dependents receive their military benefits and facilitate their transition into University life. The Office of Veterans Services is here to help veteran students and family members pursue their dreams and guide them down a path of success towards a new career. She looks forward to helping new veteran students join the talented community of learners and educators that provide extraordinary pathways for enrichment at the University of Pittsburgh.
Ann earned her undergraduate degree from Penn State University and in December 2009 will graduate with a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership. She is very adventurous and loves all outdoor activities. She also loves traveling, reading non-fiction, and the Pittsburgh Steelers! She is the proud owner of two retired racing greyhounds and in her spare time she volunteers with Steel City Greyhounds. Her husband is in his tenth year of service in the Army Reserve and is currently on his third deployment.
